Happy New Decade!

I'm not sure where the last year has gone let alone the last 10 years!  Kirk, Lincoln and I had a very laid back New Year's Eve just hanging out around home.  We actually grilled out and I must admit: I was in bed before the ball dropped.

For those of you who read my sister's blog (that's probably all of you!) know all about our family tradition of New Year gifts.  It was one of my favorite traditions growing up.  What kid doesn't love opening gifts?!  I do distinctly remember asking a friend what she got for her New Year gift and her looking at me like I was crazy!  I think she was jealous.  :)

I always knew when I had children I would want to continue the tradition of New Year gifts.  My mom tells me she started it as a way to wish us well into the new year.  The gift was usually something practical that we could use throughout the year.  The only gift I ever remeber getting is a "pre-snuggie" blanket that buttoned up.  I used to wear it all the time in college!

Anyway, to keep with the practical theme of the New Year gift, we got Lincoln a fun teether and another fun toy.  He seems to love them both.  Then again, he seems to love anything that he can put in his mouth and is brightly colored.

2009 was a great year for us.  I'll spare you all the mushy stuff, but I will say that I feel so lucky and blessed.  And while 2009 had some of the lowest of the low points for me, it also had the highest of the high.  I know that 2010 will hold as much fun and excitement as 2009 as we continue to learn the ropes of parenthood and Lincoln continues to reach new milestones and grow into his own little person.

I'm looking forward to spending time with you all, my family and friends, in the new year!

  1. Totally did not mean to steal your post - sorry! :{ Since you have a memory like a video camera, you probably actually remember more than I do! Our kids will be able to compare what they each get :) Teethers this year, who knows what they will get in years to come!
