Lazy Sunday

I love Sundays like today: Kirk is home, Lincoln is in a great mood and the 3 of us are just hanging out doing a whole lot of nothin'.  Unless you count Kirk and I staring at Lincoln waiting for him to reach another one of his milestones.  Then there is a whole lot going on around here!

After 2 weeks on rice cereal, I made the switch to oatmeal last week.  Kirk has been working a lot the last couple of weeks so he hadn't seen Lincoln's distate for oatmeal yet.  And, apparently when Daddy is around, Lincoln is a pretty big oatmeal fan!  I know what you're saying: that's not a face that says "I love oatmeal"!  Believe me, compared to the faces he gave me earlier this week, this is a "I LOVE THIS STUFF" face!

We're getting closer to sitting!  How cute is he in the those pjs?!  (thanks, Beck! :))

Lincoln's new favorite toy is the jumpy thing that hangs from the casing around the door.  He's not really good at jumping in it just yet, but he loves to sit in it and twirl around and take everything in.  I think he has inherited his cousin's (Quin's) love of people watching!  And did I mention we suddenly have a ham on our hands?  He was smiling for the camera whenever I took it out today!

And, finally, I have to wish the triplets a very Happy First Birthday.  It's so hard to believe that it's already been a year since Ellery, Gianna and Easton came into our lives.  They have come so far.  We had a great time celebrating their birthday yesterday.  They are truly little miracles.  I somehow forgot my camera yesterday so I have zero pictures of the day.  I'm sure my sister will post her blog soon.  :)

Not sure about you all, but I'm looking forward to some warmer weather.  I can't wait to take Lincoln out in his wagon and go on walks with him this summer.  So fun!

Hope you all are staying warm in this frigid weather!

Innnntrrrrooooduuuuciiiiiing Solids!!

Lincoln had his 4 month appointment on Monday.  He continues to be the tiniest little peanut.  He cried the entire time!  Every time we go in there I always feel bad for the parents with a crying baby.  I guess it was only a matter of time before those parents were US!

Lincoln's stats were:
Weight: 13 pounds 5 ounces (12th percentile)
Height: 24 and 3/4 inches (32nd percentile)

And, for the Schultzs' who were worried he may get the "Schultz Head", need not worry as his head is 41.3 centimeters putting him in the 17th percentile.

I was worried he may be too small or not gaining enough weight, but his pediatrician told us not to worry, especially after taking a look at his chubby little thighs.  He has only had breast milk thus far so I thought maybe I'd need to supplement with formula, but he's growing according to the curve and we have nothing to worry about.

The doctor did recommend starting "solids", a.k.a soupy rice cereal, and that's exactly what we did tonight.  And, believe it or not, Lincoln was a trooper!!  He didn't seem too sure of it at first, but after a few tastes, he was anticipating the spoon.  Being the novices that we are, we forgot to put a bib on the poor baby.  Oooops...just goes to show how amateurish we are!  (Pictures from before, during and after.)

We have no other news to report.  Lincoln does so well at day care and the ladies LOVE him.  They really do make us feel like he's their favorite even if it's not true!

Thanks, again, everyone for checking in with us!  (Kirk reluctantly allowed me to put this picture of him and Lincoln on the blog...I think it's adorable!  Hat hair and all!)

Happy New Decade!

I'm not sure where the last year has gone let alone the last 10 years!  Kirk, Lincoln and I had a very laid back New Year's Eve just hanging out around home.  We actually grilled out and I must admit: I was in bed before the ball dropped.

For those of you who read my sister's blog (that's probably all of you!) know all about our family tradition of New Year gifts.  It was one of my favorite traditions growing up.  What kid doesn't love opening gifts?!  I do distinctly remember asking a friend what she got for her New Year gift and her looking at me like I was crazy!  I think she was jealous.  :)

I always knew when I had children I would want to continue the tradition of New Year gifts.  My mom tells me she started it as a way to wish us well into the new year.  The gift was usually something practical that we could use throughout the year.  The only gift I ever remeber getting is a "pre-snuggie" blanket that buttoned up.  I used to wear it all the time in college!

Anyway, to keep with the practical theme of the New Year gift, we got Lincoln a fun teether and another fun toy.  He seems to love them both.  Then again, he seems to love anything that he can put in his mouth and is brightly colored.

2009 was a great year for us.  I'll spare you all the mushy stuff, but I will say that I feel so lucky and blessed.  And while 2009 had some of the lowest of the low points for me, it also had the highest of the high.  I know that 2010 will hold as much fun and excitement as 2009 as we continue to learn the ropes of parenthood and Lincoln continues to reach new milestones and grow into his own little person.

I'm looking forward to spending time with you all, my family and friends, in the new year!
